PORTLAND , OREGON/MADISON, WISCONSIN - Dr. Edwin Otto Pagel, age 46, of Portland, Oregon, died on January 26, 1994 of cardiac arrest. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on April 20, 1947. He was a 1965 graduate of Central High School in Madison, where he was captain of the football team and co-captain of the baseball team. He was a 1971 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He had been a Portland resident since 1974. Dr. Pagel was on the medical staff at St. Vincent Hospital and (Trinity) Community Hospital. He was a patron of the International Association of Scientologists. He was a Hubbard Dianetics counselor and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the Washington County Medical Society and the Columbia Academy Parents Association. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Mary Jo Pagel; a son, Matthew Joseph of Portland; and a brother, Frank, of Madison, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Otto Pagel, Sr. and his mother, Frances Marini Pagel. Memorial services were held on Monday, January 31, 1994. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be contributions made to the Columbia Academy, 9806 Southwest Boones Ferry Road, Portland, Oregon 97219.
