Obituary: Leona Kuster

MADISON - Mrs. Arnold V. (Leona) Kuster, nee Warnke, age 74, died on Friday, April 24, 1987 at a local hospital. She was born on May 10, 1912 at Waco, Nebraska. She graduated from Lewis Institute, Chicago, with a degree of B.S. in Arts and Sciences. She did post graduate work at Indiana University, Purdue University, University of Washington-Seattle and the University of Wisconsin. She was a librarian for 12 years at Wanatah, Indiana Public Library. In 1962 she moved to Madison where her husband became Pastor of Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a teacher of German and English in the Madison School System, first at Central High School and then at LaFollette High School, retiring in 1976. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teachers society. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband, The Rev. Arnold V. Kuster, Pastor Emeritus; two sons, Rev. Theodore F. Kuster, Missionary in Panama and Dr. Thomas A. Kuster, Professor at Dr. Martin Luther King College, New Ulm, Minnesota; her daughter Mrs. Robert O. Mickelson (Ruthann), teacher at East Side Lutheran School, Madison; 18 grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Rodenbeck of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents George & Alma Warnke. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1 S. Rosa Road, Madison (corner of Rosa Road and Regent St.). The Reverend Warren A. Granke will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Faith Mission Society.
